Unfortunately, it was paradise

Unfortunately, It Was Paradise takes its name and inspiration from the poetry of Mahmoud Darwish, whose work gives voice to exile and longing. This series of collages is part of a broader social practice project centered on conversations with three generations of Palestinian refugees now living in Ramallah. Through their memories of ancestral villages within the 1948 borders of Israel, the work bears witness to loss, resilience, and the enduring ties to place.
