Through research, actions on the land, social-practice, poetry, video, and collage, my art practice holds space for the pain and power of places; their pasts, presents, and imagined futures. My artwork builds on my practice of spiritual alchemy and deep inquiry into the historical, political, social and environmental factors that impact communities. As an international development economist supporting the competitiveness of micro and small businesses, I have worked in more than 20 countries and lived and worked in Palestine since 2008.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Fine Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in Development Economics from The Fletcher School at Tufts University. I attended the Athena Standards Residency in Athens, Greece and received an unrestricted grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. My work has been published in the books Empowering Women through Painting—Jordan and Cutting Edges: Contemporary Collage by Gestalten. I have participated in numerous group shows, with solo shows at IA&A at Hillyer and the Wilson Center, both in Washington, DC.
